PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 Manufacturers
A. Suspension Systems:
1. CertainTeed

2.02 Suspension Systems
A. Components: Main runners and cross tees, base metal and end detail, fabricated from commercial quality steel complying with ASTM A 366 or A 625. Main runners and cross tees are double web steel construction with exposed flange design. Exposed surfaces chemically cleansed, protective coated, capping prefinished steel in baked-on enamel paint .
1. Structural Classification: ASTM C 635 (Duty Class) duty.
2. Color: As selected.
3. Acceptable Product: (Product Series) as manufactured by CertainTeed.
B. High Humidity Finish: Comply with ASTM C 635 requirements for Coating Classification for Severe Environmental Performance where high humidity finishes are indicated.
1. Protectone Aluminum Fire-Rated Capped System by CertainTeed.
2. Environmental Aluminum System by CertainTeed.
3. Color: [white aluminum] [anodized aluminum]
C. Attachment Devices: Size for five times design load indicated in ASTM C 635, Table 1, Direct Hung unless otherwise indicated.
D. Wire for Hangers and Ties: ASTM A 641, Class 1 zinc coating, soft temper, prestretched, with a yield stress load of at least three times design load, but not less than 12 gage (2.05 mm).
E. Edge Moldings and Trim: Steel or aluminum of types and profiles indicated or, if not indicated, manufacturer’s standard moldings for edges and penetrations, including light fixtures, that fit type of edge detail and suspension system indicated. Provide moldings with exposed flange of the same width as exposed main runner.
F. Accessories

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 Examination
Examine area receiving suspension system to identify conditions which will adversely affect installation. Do not begin installation until adverse conditions have been remedied.

3.02a Installation (Non Fire-Rated System)
A. Install suspension system in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, and in compliance with ASTM C 636 and with the authorities having jurisdiction.
B. Main Runners: Installed (48) inches on center, by direct suspension from existing structure, with not less than 12 gage ASTM A 641, Class 1 zinc coated hanger wires wrapped tightly 3 full turns, spaced 48 inches on center along component length.
C. Cross Tees:
1. Installed perpendicular to main runners (24) (48) (60) inches on center form ___ by___ modules.
2. Installed adjacent to each unsupported side of recessed fixtures.
D. (Angle) moldings: Installed on vertical surfaces, intersecting main runners and cross tees, by appropriate method in accordance with industry accepted practice.

3.02b Installation (Fire-Rated System)
A. Install suspension system in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and in compliance with ASTM C 636 and with the authorities having jurisdiction.
B. Suspension System Components: Installed in accordance with UL Design Number ___ guidelines.

3.03 Adjusting and Cleaning
A. Remove damaged components, replace with undamaged components. Clean with non-solvent based non-abrasive commercial cleaning solution. CertainTeed Ceiling Suspension Systems are available in metric lengths with corresponding metric slotting.
